Common foundation and slab projects

Monolithic slabs
Integrated slab with thickened edges that support load bearing walls. We set forms to plan and pour a single placement with clean joints.

Conventional slabs with beams
Interior and perimeter beams for longer spans and variable loads. We place reinforcement and chairs to the correct height and spacing.

Commercial foundations and floor slabs
Office build outs, retail spaces, light industrial floors, and equipment pads. We set tolerances and finishes that match your flooring or coatings.

Garage and shop slabs
Slabs sized for vehicles and tools. We confirm door openings, slope for drainage, and reinforcement based on expected loads.

Porch, entry, and patio slabs off the structure
Clean pours that set the height and slope for safe entry and low maintenance outdoor space.
If you are replacing a failed section, the Repair and Replace Existing Concrete page covers full tear out and rebuild options that correct the root cause.
Our foundation and slab process
Plan
We meet on site, review drawings, measure, check access, and map drainage. You get a written scope and schedule before work begins. We confirm inspection steps with your builder.
Prep
We set forms to plan, grade and compact the base, place moisture barrier where required, and install reinforcement and dowels. We verify elevations, beam depths, and door thresholds.
Pour and finish
We place the correct mix and thickness, strike off, bull float, edge, and finish to the tolerance needed for flooring or coatings. We cut or saw joints at the right spacing and isolate where the plan calls for it.
Protect and clean up
We apply curing and protection, remove forms, backfill edges, and haul debris. We review care so the slab reaches design strength and stays clean for framing.

Details that protect your structure
- Proper subgrade compaction to reduce settling
- Vapor barrier or capillary break to protect flooring
- Reinforcement placement and laps per plan
- Control and isolation joints at the right locations
- Accurate anchor bolt layout for a clean framing start
- Access planning so trucks and equipment do not disturb the base
If your project supports heavy equipment or long spans, we can review thicker sections, higher strength mixes, fiber or rebar upgrades, dowels at transitions, and surface hardeners.
Finishes and options
For public or outdoor areas, see Concrete Patios and Stamped Concrete for finishes that pair well with clean structural work.

Steel trowel finish for interior floors to receive coverings

Broom finish for exterior edges and entries

Blockouts for plumbing and mechanicals

Conduits and sleeves for future utilities

Hardeners, densifiers, and sealers where specified
Serving Houston neighborhoods
We install and repair expansion joints across Houston, including River Oaks, Memorial, Galleria and Uptown, West University, Bellaire, Tanglewood, and other neighborhoods.

FAQs
How thick should the slab be
Most residential slabs are four inches with reinforcement. Door loads, point loads, and soil conditions can require thicker sections. We confirm the design during the site visit or from your plans.
Do I need a vapor barrier
We follow plan and code. Many interior slabs need a moisture barrier to protect flooring. We install the proper membrane with taped seams and clean penetrations.
What flatness can you achieve
We finish to the tolerance your plans call for. If your floors need a specific straightedge or F number, we review it during preconstruction.
When can work continue on the slab
Light foot traffic is usually fine after one to two days. Framing often starts after several days depending on weather and mix design. We confirm timing based on your schedule.
Will it crack
Concrete moves with temperature and soil. Proper base prep, joint layout, reinforcement, and curing help control where cracks form and how they behave. We build to reduce random cracking.
What affects price
Square footage, thickness, reinforcement, access, moisture barrier, beams and footings, embeds and anchors, and any special finish or tolerance. Your estimate shows each item so you can see where the cost comes from.
