Pris Concrete FAQ

FAQ

Find answers to the most common questions about our concrete services, process, pricing, and timelines.

We’ve gathered the most common questions so you know exactly what to expect with PRIS Concrete.

How much does a new driveway or patio cost?

Price depends on size, thickness, access, reinforcement, and any decorative finish. After a quick site visit, we’ll give you a clear, written quote.

Do you handle demo and removal of existing concrete?

Yes. We take care of demolition, haul-off, and full site prep, including grading, compacted base, forms, reinforcement, and a clean jobsite when we’re done.

Repair or replace—how do I decide?

If the slab has widespread cracks, heaving, bad drainage, or root damage, replacement is usually the better long-term choice. Small trip spots or minor settling can sometimes be lifted or patched. We’ll explain options and costs.

How thick should my driveway or patio be?

Most Houston driveways are 4 to 5 inches thick with rebar. Patios and walkways are typically 4 inches. We may upsize thickness, PSI, or rebar spacing for heavy loads, clay soils, or root zones.

What slab specs do you recommend?

Common specs are 3,000–4,000 PSI concrete, rebar grid or welded wire mesh, fiber as needed, compacted base, and correctly spaced control joints. We tailor specs to your use.

Can I customize the design or color?

Absolutely. Options include stamped patterns, integral color, stains, exposed aggregate, smooth trowel, or broom finish. We’ll bring samples and photos to help you pick.

How soon can I walk or drive on new concrete?

You can walk on it after 24 to 48 hours. Wait at least 7 days before driving or parking vehicles to protect early-stage strength. Full cure is about 28 days.

Do weather conditions affect installation?

Yes. We plan around heat, cold, and rain. If rescheduling is needed to protect finish quality, we’ll let you know right away.

How do you deal with Houston’s clay soils and drainage?

We grade the base, compact it, and build the right slope away from the home. We place control joints on a smart layout and may add thicker edges or higher PSI as needed.

Where do control joints go and why do they matter?

Joints guide natural movement so hairline cracks form in straight, planned lines. We space and align joints with corners and grade changes for a clean look.

Will my concrete crack?

Hairline cracking can happen as concrete cures and seasons. Proper base prep, reinforcement, and jointing help manage it. Most hairlines do not affect strength.

Do you offer sealing and maintenance?

Yes. We offer post-install sealing and maintenance plans, especially for decorative work. Most homeowners reseal decorative surfaces every 2 to 3 years.

What finishes work best for driveways and patios?

Broom finish gives traction for driveways and walks. Stamped or colored concrete upgrades curb appeal on patios. Smooth trowel works well in covered areas.

What is a typical project timeline?

A standard driveway or patio usually follows: site visit and quote, permits or HOA if needed, demo and haul-off, base prep and forms, reinforcement and pour, finishing, cure, and clean-up. On-site work often takes 2 to 4 working days, plus cure time.

Do you handle permits and HOA approvals?

In most cases, yes. We know the local rules and will guide you on what’s needed to stay compliant.

What about utilities, sprinklers, or landscaping?

We call in utility locates when required, protect lines where possible, and discuss any needed moves before we start.

Can you match existing color or texture?

We can get close using color charts and sample panels, but older slabs change with age and weather. We’ll set expectations together.

What sets PRIS Concrete apart?

Craftsmanship, communication, and integrity. You get a clear scope, professional site prep, proper reinforcement, clean finishes, and a fair, written warranty.

How do I choose the right concrete contractor?

Ask for proof of insurance, local references, photos of similar work, a written scope with specs, and a clear payment schedule. We provide all of the above.

Any care tips after installation?

Keep it clean, avoid de-icing salts, manage drainage, and reseal decorative surfaces on schedule. If you see something you’re unsure about, call us early.
